With GLOBALG.A.P. certification for all internal flower production sites in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, Syngenta’s customers are assured of stringent professional and sustainability standards.

Years in the making

In 2016, Syngenta Flowers was awarded GLOBALG.A.P. certification and passed the GRASP assessment for their Young Plant Production site at De Lier in the Netherlands. In 2020, they continued on this path and attained GLOBALG.A.P. certification for Tolra, their Spanish Mandevilla Young Plant Production site. This means that in the EAME area (Europe, Africa, and the Middle East), every link in the plant supply chain is now successfully covered by a GLOBALG.A.P. certificate – from starter material right through to unrooted cuttings and young plants.

Farm assurance assures customers

This achievement means Syngenta’s customers can rest assured that stringent professional and sustainability standards are in place for the production of Syngenta flowers.

This industry-leading commitment ensures that the growers whom Syngenta supplies and the retailers supplied by those growers now have a major benefit to help them stand out in the industry. This benefit of sustainably produced plants carries through to the end-user.

Syngenta plants are already part of the sustainability story

All plants produced at Syngenta sites already carry GLOBALG.A.P. certification, reflecting the company’s long-term commitment to and investment in responsible stewardship. As sustainability becomes increasingly important, there are now more than 1,000 business-to-business and business-to-consumer eco-labels. From such a large range, Syngenta chose GLOBALG.A.P. because it has the highest standards.

As European retailers and environmental NGOs call for increased certified production, growers need to prove their own production methods are sustainable to remain competitive in their market. In doing so, they build credibility and goodwill with consumers seeking sustainably produced products.
GLOBALG.A.P. offers growers continuous support to improve production quality, including regular audits and follow-ups, and integrates industry and retailer perspectives.
